Support for Neurodivergent People

Neurodiversity recognises that variations in the human brain and nervous system such as autism, ADHD, and dyslexia are natural and valuable forms of human diversity. These differences can influence how people think, feel, and interact with the world. Yet society often demands conformity, viewing neurodivergent individuals as anomalies rather than as part of the spectrum of human experience. This can lead to misunderstanding, exclusion, and pressure to change or mask aspects of oneself in order to ‘fit in’.

Neurodivergent people can frequently experience difficulties due to living in a world not built for their needs and of course, neurodivergent people often also experience broader issues such as stress, trauma, or adversity, as these are a universal part of the human experience. Therapy can offer a place to explore our many and varied experiences, make sense of our own identity, and develop a clearer understanding of ourselves and our relationship to our environment and society.

I often work with neurodivergent people seeking support. My approach values and affirms neurodivergent ways of being and knowing. Together we can explore practical strategies for navigating a world that can at times feel overwhelming, while also recognising and celebrating the unique strengths, perspectives, and that neurodiversity can bring.
