Grief and Complex Bereavement

Grief is a natural and deeply human response to loss. This loss may be the death of a loved one, but it can also be the end of a relationship, or other significant life changes. It can bring a wide range of emotions such as sadness, anger, guilt, or even numbness and it often comes in waves that feel unpredictable and overwhelming. For some people, grief can be experienced as complex bereavement, where the pain feels prolonged and intense. This can happen when loss feels overwhelming or becomes entangled with earlier relational experiences, making the process of mourning more difficult.

In my work, I take an integrative and relational approach to supporting people through grief. My primary aim is to create a safe and containing space to sit with you through this difficult time. This is a space where all feelings can be valued and held as we reflect on the relationship with what (or who) has been lost, navigating the complex, emotional bonds being carried. Drawing on relational exploration, CBT strategies, and mindfulness, we can often work to make sense of your emotions and find rituals to honour what has been.
