Depression

Depression can feel like a weight that dulls our connection to ourselves and the world around us. It may be experienced as loss of motivation or interest, fatigue, or a sense of disconnection from ourselves, from others, and from life. Living with depression can feel confusing and isolating, and is often accompanied by self-criticism, guilt, or a sense of being ‘stuck.’ I take an integrative approach to supporting people with depression, tailoring therapy to what feels most helpful for each individual. My aim is to provide a supportive space where difficult emotions can be explored and expressed safely, helping to re-establish connection with aspects of self that may have been suppressed. Through reflection on feelings, thoughts, and relational dynamics past and present it becomes possible to understand the underlying conflicts, losses, or patterns that often contribute to depressive states.

The aim of my psychotherapy for depression is to acknowledge and work with difficult emotions while also developing practical tools and strategies for navigating day-to-day life. By gradually fostering self-compassion and understanding, it can become more possible to break cycles of self-criticism, or withdrawal, and to develop new ways of meaningful relating to oneself and others.
